About the event

Dear Colleague:

Health is a human right, due to its social dimension it requires the will of the governments of the countries, where the different sectors of society intervene, aimed at guaranteeing full coverage of qualified human resources that improve the health of the populations, prolong and raise the quality of life of individuals, families and communities, developing health promotion actions, prevention of modifiable risks, rehabilitation, healing and continuous patient-centered care, as well as satisfaction with the services offered.

Among the challenges of Nursing is to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals, especially those aimed at improving health and well-being, gender equality and economic development, sharing good practices by developing innovative ways of working, aimed at improve clinical skills, training and employment, pursue as a final objective to improve patient care and safety through Universal Health Coverage, inform society and its decision-makers about the role of Nursing in the 21st century, emphasizing the concept that nurses are not only important for health care, but that their contribution as health workers increases economic security, community cohesion and improves the level of education of the population and with this, using science, technology and innovation contribute to the achievement of global health.

Due to the complexity of today´s society, it is necessary to incorporate psychological, social and cultural variables into the actions of nurses from a transcultural and holistic perspective that allow these professionals to lead and generate changes that address global problems. There are numerous ways in which nurses can contribute to the development of strong and resilient health systems at the local, national and global levels, as well as providing guidance for themselves and policy makers. The tools, information and ideas for action will help and encourage nurses and national nursing associations (NNAs) to participate in developing policies that ensure a prosperous and sustainable health agenda.

With the objective of socializing experiences of the actions developed in the countries and the central theme "Science, technology and innovation in Nursing for global health", we meet at the Plaza América Convention Center, in Varadero, Cuba, from November 27 to 29, 2024.
